Agusan Sur’s agrarian reform beneficiaries receive aid from DAR

By Kelvin Kennt R. Generalo

PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur (PIA) — The agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in Agusan del Sur received significant support from the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), as highlighted during the opening of Harvest of Hope: DAR Agusan del Sur Celebrating Agrarian Reform Milestones, held  at the DAR Provincial Office on June 23.

The event highlighted the accomplishments of the agrarian reform program in the province and reaffirmed DAR’s commitment to empowering farmer-beneficiaries through sustained intervention.

The event highlighted the accomplishments of the agrarian reform program in the province and reaffirmed DAR’s commitment to empowering farmer-beneficiaries through sustained intervention.

Reynaldo Maido Sr., chairperson of the La Fortuna Multi-Purpose Cooperative (LAMUPCO) in Brgy. La Fortuna, Veruela, Agusan del Sur, expressed gratitude and shared his experiences as both an ARB and leader of an agrarian reform beneficiaries organization (ARBO).

“As an ARB and at the same time a chairperson of an ARBO, I believe that DAR’s capability-building interventions are essential. The most important responsibility we have is to nurture and develop the land entrusted to us by DAR because it is the core of our livelihood as farmers,” Maido said.

He emphasized the challenges that farmers face, especially during natural calamities, fluctuations in market prices, and production difficulties.

“There is no such thing as perfection, especially for us farmers. We belong to one of the most vulnerable sectors. But despite the hardships, it remains our passion to feed the community with our produce. Farming is not only our way of life — it’s also how we send our children to school, lifting them out of poverty and allowing them to experience the long-term impact of the agrarian reform program,” he added.

Maido also expressed sincere appreciation to DAR for the infrastructure, farm machinery, and equipment provided to their organization.

He further noted that such assistance has significantly improved their ability to cultivate the land, enhance productivity, and streamline the harvesting process.

“This support from DAR has truly made a difference. With better infrastructure and machinery, we can now nourish the soil more effectively, boost production, and harvest our crops with greater ease and efficiency,” he said. (KKG, PIA Agusan del Sur)
