(PAGASA 24-HOUR PUBLIC WEATHER FORECAST as of Saturday, 19 July 2025) As of 3:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Depression “CRISING” was located at 530 km east of Juban, Sorsogon (13.0°N, 128.9°E). It has maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 70 km/h. It is moving west-northwest at 15 km/h. Tropical Depression Crising is currently affecting Dinagat Islands and Surigao del Norte, while the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) continues to affect the rest of Mindanao. Dinagat Islands and Surigao del Norte will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to TD Crising. Flash floods or landslides are possible during moderate to at times heavy rainfall. Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and the rest of Caraga will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms caused by the Southwest Monsoon. The rest of Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, also due to the Southwest Monsoon. Winds will be moderate from the southwest to west, with moderate seas (wave height: 1.2 to 2.5 meters).

Dinagat Islands celebrates Nat'l Heritage Month

DINAGAT ISLANDS -- The Province of Dinagat Islands celebrated this year's National Heritage Month with the theme, "Preserving Legacies, Building Futures: Empowering Communities through Heritage," on May 30 at PDRRM Operations Center, Sta. Cruz, San Jose, of this province.

The celebration underscored the significance of local heritage in shaping strong, resilient, and culturally rooted communities. As part of the continuing effort to preserve and promote local history and creativity, it was highlighted by the "Pinta sa Isla Painting Contest with the theme, “The Battle of Surigao Strait,” an iconic moment in Philippine history that echoes the courage and heroism of Filipinos.

The winners of the Pinta sa Isla are the following:

🥈 2nd Place: Arthur T. Dela Cerna

🥉 3rd Place: Edilberto F. Daligdig Jr.

Through the Dinagat Islands Tourism and Culture Office, the provincial government of Dinagat Islands extended appreciation to the esteemed panel of judges for lending their time, expertise, and artistic insight in selecting this year’s winners: Alim V. Eviota, Gilbert H. Japay, and Len Russel S. Regala, including the Davies Paints Philippines, through its representative Frederick R. Abonitalla, as the official sponsor of the event and its generous distribution of free marine epoxy paint materials to boat operators of the province as contribution to the island’s local tourism and transport sector.
