DILG Caraga launches SGLG reg'l self-assessment

BUTUAN CITY -- With the deferment of the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) for reprogramming at the national level, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Caraga launched the SGLG Regional Self-Assessment to help local government units (LGUs) maintain progress and stay committed to good governance despite the temporary suspension of the national evaluation.

The initiative aims to monitor LGU compliance, track performance, and sustain efforts in 2024. It also seeks to generate key data to support capacity development initiatives under the program on Newly Elected Officials (NEO) and guide the development of targeted and responsive interventions for LGUs.

To orient stakeholders on the process, DILG Caraga conducted an online orientation on May 23, via Zoom.

The session was attended by Assistant Regional Director Donald A. Seronay, Local Government Monitoring and Evaluation Division (LGMED) Chief Ray Gregory F. Jaranilla, Local Government Capability Development Division (LGCDD) Chief Milariza L. Beniga, regional SGLG team, city and provincial directors, city/municipal local government operation officers (C/MLGOOs), DILG city/provincial focal persons, and LGU focal persons from across the region.

The self-assessment, from May 23 to July 5, used a convenient and user-friendly tool that is based on systems already familiar to the LGUs, ensuring ease of use and reliable data collection.

DILG Caraga encourages all stakeholders to actively participate in and support this initiative, and to continue striving for excellence in local governance—matino, mahusay, at maaasahan. (DILG Caraga/PIA Caraga)
