Caraga blazes historic first win in Nat'l Schools Press Conference
AGUSAN DEL SUR -- The Agusan del Sur bannered Caraga region triumphed as the overall champion in the 2025 National Schools Press Conference (NSPC), the Department of Education's (DepEd) annual competition for campus journalists in elementary and secondary schools nationwide.
Caraga’s victory was its first championship in the long history of NSPC and foiled the bid of defending champion Davao region for a back-to-back championship.
Caraga secured top honors in several categories, including first place overall in the secondary level and first place in the individual contests for secondary students.
The five-day journalism, held as a complement to the Palarong Pambansa, took place in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur.
“There was a time when Caraga was merely a whisper, a soft murmur of hope in a room full of giants. Today, we do not just raise a trophy, we raise a legacy. This is not just a win. This is a revolution of the spirit, a dream etched in ink and lifted by voices too powerful to be ignored,” said Gladys S. Asis, regional journalism coordinator.
The campus journalism tilt categories include news writing, editorial writing, editorial cartooning, editorial column writing, feature writing, sports writing, copyreading and headline writing, photojournalism, and science and technology writing.
Mobile journalism (MoJo) was also introduced as part of the program in this year’s staging. (TEB, PGO-Agusan del Sur/PIA Agusan del Sur)
