Caraga State U launches first-ever prayer room for Muslim Golden Paddlers

BUTUAN CITY – The Caraga State University (CSU) in Butuan City recently inaugurated its first dedicated prayer room for Muslim Golden Paddlers located on the second floor of the HERO Learning Commons. The facility provided a designated space to perform their daily prayers (Salah) while inside the campus.

Aside from the space dedicated to prayer, undisturbed worship, and spiritual reflection. It also offered a private environment for women who observe religious practices requiring body coverage during prayer.

The Office of Vice President for Student Affairs and Auxiliary Services (OVPSAAS) led this initiative under its Multi-Faith and Diversity of Students Unit, which acted on the diverse spiritual needs of Golden Paddlers.

A symposium about wisdom, faith, and comparative aspects of the Islamic faith ensued, organized by the CSU Caraga Muslim Students Association.

This initiative upheld the university’s commitment to appreciating and respecting the multi-faith culture on campus, fostering an inclusive, respectful, and accommodating learning environment for all Golden Paddlers. (CSU/PIA Caraga)
