Agusan Sur's provincial police office intensifies campaign vs loose firearms
PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur – In preparation for the upcoming 2025 National and Local Elections (NLE), the Agusan del Sur Police Provincial Office (ADSPPO) continues to implement an intensified campaign against loose firearms—unregistered or illegally possessed firearms—to ensure a peaceful, orderly, and credible electoral process in the province.
According to Police Colonel (PCol.) Yahya Bustamante Yusup, provincial director of ADSPPO, the police have strengthened Oplan Kontra Boga through checkpoint operations, implementation of search warrants, and community engagement to locate and seize illegal firearms that could be used to disrupt the peace during the elections.
The police are reminding all firearm owners whose guns are unregistered or have expired licenses to voluntarily surrender them or comply with the gun registration process to avoid legal repercussions.
Authorities also emphasized their strict monitoring against individuals or groups involved in illegal firearms trade, which could be used for intimidation, vote buying, or violence between candidates.
The ADSPPO urges the public to actively support the police by reporting the presence of unlicensed firearms, illegal firearm transactions, or individuals carrying firearms without proper documentation. All information provided will be treated with confidentiality and given priority action.
The campaign against loose firearms is part of the broader police efforts to ensure a peaceful, honest, and credible 2025 Elections in Agusan del Sur. (PRO13 Agusan del Sur Pulis/PIA Agusan del Sur)
