COMELEC shares integral guidelines for NLE 2025
PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur – In preparation for the upcoming 2025 National and Local Elections (NLE), the Agusan del Sur Police Provincial Office (ADSPPO) announced the implementation of comprehensive Commission on Elections (COMELEC) guidelines aimed at combating the spread of misinformation and disinformation during the National Level Examination (NLE) 2025.
These guidelines will ensure that the election process remains fair, transparent, and free from misinformation and disinformation and safeguarding the integrity of the NLE 2025.
Police Colonel (PCol) Yahya Bustamante Yusup, provincial director of ADSPPO, highlighted on summative guide on the important provisions of Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Resolution No. 11064 as amended by COMELEC Resolution No. 11064-A, regarding the registration and use of social media for the 2025 Philippine Elections:
•Use of “false amplifiers” (e.g., fake accounts, bots) to spread disinformation and misinformation in endorsing or campaigning against a candidate, a political party/coalition or party-list organizations, or to propagate disinformation and misinformation targeting the Philippine election system, the COMELEC and electoral processes during the election and campaign period;
•Coordinated inauthentic behavior and
utilization of hyperactive users for the above mentioned purposes;
•Creation and dissemination of
deepfakes, cheap fakes and sort fakes for the above mentioned purposes;
•Use of fake and unregistered social
media accounts during the election and campaign period for the above mentioned
purposes;
•Creation and dissemination of fake
news in furtherance of the above mentioned purposes; and
•Use of content produced through AI technology but without compliance with the transparency and disclosure requirements under the resolution.
The ADSPPO remains committed to ensuring a smooth and transparent NLE 2025. By empowering the public with the tools to identify and combat misinformation and disinformation. This served as a proactive approach to safeguard the integrity of the election and ensure that the focus remains on a secured, accurate, fair elections.
