DSWD's Sustainable Livelihood Program holds ceremonial awarding, project turnover for Agusan Sur beneficiaries

BUTUAN CITY -- To strengthen the ties with the agency’s partners, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga through Assistant Regional Director for Administration (ARDA) Tristan Telen recently handed over the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) Most Outstanding Public Partner to the 60th Infantry Battalion of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), held at the Learning and Tourism Display Center and Multipurpose Hall in Brgy. Poblacion, Veruela, Agusan del Sur.

The award served as a significant recognition of SLP’s gratitude and appreciation for the AFP’s 60th Infantry Battalion’s steadfast dedication and tireless contributions. Through their continuous efforts, the battalion has played a crucial role in assisting the SLP in the effective implementation of its programs and services in the province.

“Today, we celebrate more than just an award; we celebrate the power of partnership, resilience, and progress. This partnership stands as a testament to what we can achieve with government, communities, and stakeholders working hand in hand. Together, we will build a future of sustainable development, one project, one community, one empowered Filipino at a time,” ARDA Telen remarked.

Furthermore, 1st Lieutenant (Lt.) Jhon Paul Sapon conveyed his sincere appreciation to SLP, emphasizing the 60th Infantry Battalion's (IB’s) commitment to continue supporting and actively contributing to the success of the program.

“On behalf of our battalion, we are deeply honored to be continuously recognized as your best partner. All we know is that we are simply doing our job. I assure you that the recognition and award you’ve bestowed upon us will inspire us to remain committed and dedicated to our shared goals. We truly value this acknowledgment,” Sapon stated.

The handing over ceremony also took place simultaneously during the SLP’s municipal-wide project turn-over in Veruela, Agusan del Sur. The program awarded four livelihood projects to four SLP associations from the barangays of La Fortuna, Sinobong, Del Monte, and Don Mateo in the aforementioned municipality with a total amount of P1,620,000.00 worth of grant.

“We are truly honored and grateful to be one of the recipients of this incredible program. It fills me with immense joy, especially knowing the positive impact it has on our community, particularly for the out-of-school youth. This opportunity means so much to me, and I am excited to see the difference it will make in their lives,” said Jhonry Galleto, president of the Don Mateo Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines (PYAP).

The program continues to expand its reach, welcoming a diverse array of participants, while simultaneously valuing and honoring its partners for their relentless dedication and untiring efforts in successfully implementing the programs and services of SLP.
