RDRC to evaluate assistance to STY Odette victims in Siargao

By Jennifer P. Gaitano

BUTUAN CITY – Chaired by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Caraga, the Regional Disaster Response Committee (RDRC) with members from various government agencies will be conducting an Emergency Shelter Assistance (ESA) Monitoring in the municipalities of Siargao Island in the province of Surigao del Norte on August 8 to 12, 2023.

DSWD Caraga regional director Mari-Flor Dollaga-Libang disclosed that the said monitoring is an essential process that will determine the effectiveness and efficiency of the assistance provided to beneficiaries and its impact to the lives of the recipient communities.

“Thus, the committee invites its member agencies to participate and be part of this community immersion along disaster rehabilitation program,” said Libang.

The director further highlighted that ESA is a program designed to assist households whose houses were compromised or destroyed during the onslaught of typhoons or at any onset of hazard.

“This program entails limited financial assistance to households so that their needs for shelter repair and reconstruction of their houses will be addressed the soonest possible time. The identified beneficiaries are those families with totally damaged houses from the onslaught of Super Typhoon Odette,” added Libang. (JPG/PIA-Caraga)
