NNC, stakeholders all set for 2023 Nutrition Month in Caraga

BUTUAN CITY – In line with the 49th Nutrition Month celebration on July 2023, various government offices and the private sector will be taking active part in the monthlong celebration with exciting activities spearheaded by the National Nutrition Council (NNC) Caraga

According to NNC Caraga regional nutrition program coordinator, Dr. Niño Archie Labordo, this year’s Nutrition Month is anchored on the theme, “Healthy diet gawing affordable for all!” which aims to encourage multi-sectors to participate and engage in activities to improve nutrition.

“Guided by the theme, the campaign aims to engage consumers to support improvements in levels of diet quality towards sustainable healthy diets, generate participation of stakeholders at various levels on actions towards enabling access to affordable and sustainable healthy diets, and call support for the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) 2023-2028 as the framework for action to improve nutrition security,” bared Dr. Labordo.

Dr. Labordo further revealed that this year’s celebration will kick-off on July 3 through the conduct of a motorcade at the Butuan City thoroughfares and participants will assemble at the city’s Guingona Park by 7:30 a.m.

Right after the motorcade, all the participating sectors will be joining in the opening program at the Caraga State University (CSU) in Barangay Ampayon, Butuan City, where a press conference will also be held.

On July 24, the NNC Caraga will also lead other sectors in the conduct of the simultaneous Malunggay Tree Planting activity. A culmination program will also be held on July 26 at SM City Butuan. 

By virtue of Presidential Decree 491, every July shall be the month to create greater awareness on nutrition. The NNC coordinates in then said nationwide celebration in order to increase public awareness on pressing nutrition concerns. (JPG/PIA-Caraga)
