Establishment of NANIE special economic zone in AgNor now underway

BUTUAN CITY -- For more than 20 years of waiting, Agusanons will soon experience the Nasipit Agusan del Norte Industrial Estate (NANIE), a 62-hectare special economic zone in the municipality of Nasipit, province of Agusan del Norte.

During the signing of the deed of grant of usufructuary right, Brigadier General Charito B. Plaza, Director-General of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) urged the Agusanons to unite and support this project.

 

She emphasized that this is a big opportunity to improve the economy of the province.

 

“With your support and cooperation, we, in PEZA hope to easily locate these economic zones,” said Plaza.

 

BGen. Plaza also urged local government units to identify their respective potential economic zones while ensuring their share in protecting the natural resources.

 

“Every local government unit has a potential economic zone that’s why we also encouraged them to take part in this endeavor,” added Plaza.

 

Meanwhile, Vice Governor Ramon A.G. Bungabong, stressed that  the Sanggguniang Panlalawigan of Agusan del Norte was able to pass several resolutions with the support of the line agencies and local government units and PEZA in its aim to develop NANIE.

 

“We have passed several resolutions to boost the NANIE program. The latest of which is Sanggunian Resolution No. 515-2021,” bared Bungabong.

 

Nasipit Mayor Enrico Corvera, also encouraged the locals to help boost the economy of the municipality and the province in general. (JPG/PIA-Caraga)
