Barangay De Oro in Butuan City upgrades ICT equipment through funding from SCPF

By Renelle L. Escuadro

BUTUAN CITY (PIA) — De Oro Punong Barangay Randy Jagonos thanked President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for the Bawat Barangay Makikinabang (BBM) program, which allows the barangay to upgrade its information and communications technology (ICT) equipment through the purchase of a unit of laptop, including a printer, and projector.

Funded through the Socio-Civic Projects Fund (SCPF), the barangay council received P200,000 from the national government.

“Thank you so much, President Marcos Jr., for helping the barangay upgrade our ICT equipment,” Jagonos said during his interview with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Caraga on October 6 at the covered court of Barangay De Oro.

“The P100,000 was used to purchase new laptops, a printer, and a projector, which are helpful ICT tools for the barangay council’s online communication, report management, training, meetings, among others,” he added.

He also shared that the remaining P100,000 was allocated as education assistance to five college students in the barangay as Presidential scholars.

“Each Presidential scholar received P20,000 to help pay for their tuition and other school expenses,” Jagonos told PIA.

The SCPF is a direct financial assistance grant from the Office of the President, managed under programs like the Bawat Barangay Makikinabang. It empowers the barangay to allocate the program for local development priority projects such as infrastructure, street lighting, administrative equipment, or Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) equipment.
