SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte (PIA) — The Surigao City Yacht Marina Development Project has emerged as one of the strongest entries out of 17 project proposals presented nationwide during the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) Investment Pitching.
Ranked among the top five proposals, this recognition qualified the project for inclusion in the prestigious United Nations Tourism Investment Portfolio, providing global exposure and opening doors to international investors, development partners, and financing institutions.
Department of Tourism (DOT) Caraga Director Yvonnie B. Dumadag said, “The pitching activity on December 16, 2025, in Pasay City formed part of the ongoing development of the Philippine Tourism Investment Portfolio (PTIP), a flagship initiative of the DOT in partnership with TIEZA.”
“PTIP is a strategic, data-driven, and investor-focused portfolio designed to enhance the Philippines’ competitiveness as a prime destination for sustainable and high-impact tourism investments,” Dir. Dumadag added.
“The Surigao City Yacht Marina Development Project is envisioned to significantly boost tourism and local economic growth by creating opportunities for sustainable yacht and marine tourism,” Dumadag said. “With Surigao City’s strategic position as a gateway to Mindanao, the project aims to attract domestic and international cruisers, strengthen nautical tourism circuits, and support inclusive development through job creation and the development of allied enterprises.”
During the final boot camp, the project was personally and confidently presented by Surigao City Mayor Pablo Yves L. Dumlao II before a distinguished panel of investors, tourism stakeholders, and industry experts, highlighting the project’s market potential, sustainability framework, and strategic location.
The project’s manifestation of strength is the result of intensive capacity-building and investment readiness activities, particularly the series of preparatory bootcamps and collective efforts that ensured the proposal was well-aligned with investor expectations, sustainability standards, and national tourism development priorities.
This achievement marked a significant milestone for Surigao City and reaffirms the commitment of national and local stakeholders to advancing transformative tourism investments that position the city and the Caraga Region on the global tourism and investment map.
