By Nora L. Molde
BUTUAN CITY (PIA) — Hundreds of residents from the barangays of Lingayao and San Isidro in the municipality of Las Nieves benefitted from a series of comprehensive service caravans under this year’s Las Nieves Cares Community Immersion (LaNie Cares) conducted throughout December.
Implemented across all barangays of Las Nieves, this flagship program continues to deliver essential government services directly to communities, uplifting households, expanding development opportunities, and reinforcing the municipality’s sustained peace and insurgency-free status.
Anchored on Executive Order No. 70, series of 2018, LaNie Cares operationalizes the Whole-of-Nation Approach by harmonizing the efforts of local government units, national agencies, security forces, and private partners. The initiative addresses the root causes of conflict and ensures that long-delayed interventions reach not only far-flung communities but every barangay of Las Nieves. Through its strengthened partnership with the 23rd Infantry ‘Masigasig’ Battalion (23IB), the municipality continues to uphold peace, stability, and resilience.
Mayor Karen S. Rosales led all December activities, together with Vice Mayor Avelina S. Rosales and members of the Sangguniang Bayan, underscoring the LGU’s commitment to serving every corner of the municipality.
“This entire effort is really for all of you, the people of Las Nieves,” Mayor Rosales said. “I hope that through our unity, we can further strengthen peace and secure a better, more stable life for every family. No barangay should ever be left behind. Every Las Nievesnon deserves quality government service.”
In Barangay Lingayao, Punong Barangay Noli Jay B. Dapat expressed deep appreciation for the sustained and direct assistance provided to his community. “Dako kaayo among pasalamat sa LaNie Cares. Daghan kaayong pamilya ang natabangan. Importante gyud nga pirmi mi maapil sa serbisyo sa LGU ug sa atong mga kauban sa sektor. (We are very grateful for LaNie Cares. Many families have been helped. It is truly important that we are always included in the services of the LGU and our partners in the sector).”
He added that the program has brought significant benefits to the community by improving access to essential health, legal, social, and livelihood services, and by fostering stronger peace, cooperation, and overall well-being among residents.
Throughout this December, LaNie Cares delivered a wide array of public services across Barangay of Lingayao and San Isidro. Among the services provided, include free medical check-ups, dental services, pre-natal care, circumcision, laboratory tests, and medicines; PhilHealth membership concerns and medical assistance; free eye screening and consultations and free legal advice.
Also the locals benefited from free haircut services; birth registration and marriage license processing; tax inquiries, onsite assessment, and distribution of information, education and communication (IEC) materials; business permit and livelihood support services; free police clearance issuance for first-time job seekers; renewal of senior citizen and person with disability (PWD) IDs, plus distribution of five-kilo rice packs; cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) demonstrations and emergency response orientations; anti-rabies vaccination, vitamin supplementation, seedlings, IEC materials, and rodenticide; meal packs and educational toys for children; fire safety IEC and community awareness activities; assistance for Bread and Pastry Production and Barista course applications; and entertainment for children by the mascots of Jollibee and the Bureau of Fire Protection.
The local government affirmed that LaNie Cares will continue to be deployed across all barangays, ensuring that every community, whether populated centers or geographically isolated areas will receive consistent and responsive government services.
Through enhanced collaboration, proactive peacebuilding, and sustained development-focused governance, LaNie Cares remains a cornerstone of Las Nieves’ mission to uplift communities and sustain a peaceful, resilient, and progressive municipality.
This year marks the 8th year of successfully implementing LaNie Cares, a testament to what the municipality can achieve through unity and collective action. Mayor Rosales calls on all residents to continue supporting local peace and development programs for a safer, more united, and more prosperous Las Nieves.
