Red Cross sets up welfare, first aid stations in major cemeteries for Undas 2025

By Nora L. Molde

BUTUAN CITY (PIA) – As part of its continuing humanitarian mission and annual Operation Undas, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Agusan del Norte-Butuan City Chapter will set up Welfare and First Aid Stations in major cemeteries across Agusan del Norte and Butuan City during the observance of Undas 2025.

In an interview with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Caraga, Chapter Administrator Alger L. Boter underscored the Red Cross’ commitment to uphold its humanitarian mandate, to protect life, promote health, and ensure the welfare of communities, especially during events that draw large crowds.

“We want to ensure that the public remains safe and well during Undas. Our stations will be manned by Red Cross staff and volunteers from November 1 to 2, ready to respond to anyone who may need first aid, health monitoring, or welfare assistance,” said Boter.

The welfare services to be offered include resting areas for the elderly and children, assistance to lost individuals or separated family members, and referral services for those needing further medical attention. Volunteers will also extend tracing assistance, and information services to families in need.

“This is what the Red Cross stands for, serving humanity without boundaries. Our presence in cemeteries reflects our mission to help people in need, regardless of who they are or where they come from,” Boter added.

He emphasized that Red Cross personnel are fully prepared to assist those who may experience fatigue, minor injuries, or medical emergencies while visiting their departed loved ones.

“Aside from first aid and health checks, we will also provide guidance, emotional support, and other welfare services to ensure a safe and comfortable observance for everyone,” he said.

Boter encouraged the public to stay hydrated, keep emergency contacts accessible, and immediately approach Red Cross volunteers for any assistance.

“Our volunteers are always ready to help. We remind everyone to remain alert and considerate of others so we can all observe Undas safely and peacefully,” he reiterated.

Through this annual initiative, the Philippine Red Cross continues to embody its humanitarian spirit, ensuring that compassion, service, and care reach every Filipino, even in moments of remembrance and reflection during Undas. (NCLM, PIA Agusan del Norte)
