Caraga assessors train LGUs on innovative valuation, revenue practices in Agusan Sur
PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur -- Local government units from Agusan del Sur and other provinces actively participated in this year’s four-day regional event, held from July 8–11, at the D.O. Plaza Sports Complex in Brgy. Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.
This four-day event was organized by the Regional Association of Treasurers and Assessors (REGATA) Caraga, in coordination with the Bureau of Local Government Finance of the Department of Finance (BLGF-DOF)
According to Provincial Assessor, Engr. Cesar T. Rufila Jr., the activity aims to promote camaraderie, mental wellness, and team spirit among participants from local government units across the Caraga region.
During the opening program on July 9, Engr. Jopher S. Tarre, provincial assessor of Dinagat Islands and president of REGATA, Inc., expressed his appreciation to the provincial government for its efforts in preparing the venue for all the participants, as he delivered his welcome remarks.
“We are truly grateful to the Sports and Development Services, Provincial Assessors Office, Provincial Treasury Office, and most especially to Gov. Santiago Cane Jr. for the warm welcome and the well-prepared venue that reflects their commitment to the success of this event and the comfort of all delegates,” he said.
BLGF Caraga Regional Director Erwina Grace P. Morales revealed that a series of lectures, hands-on workshops, interactive sessions, and sports activities were lined up to enhance the knowledge and skills of LGU personnel on innovative property valuation techniques, revenue generation strategies, and fiscal management.
"The training also featured case studies, digital tools demonstration, and peer-sharing of best practices to encourage adaptive and data-driven approaches in local assessment and treasury operations," she said.
"The sports event has brought together teams competing in a variety of sports, including Laro ng Lahi, volleyball, swimming, darts, table tennis, chess, and badminton, fostering unity and encouraging a healthy work-life balance among local government employees," she added.
Meanwhile, organizers announced that the awarding ceremony is scheduled on Friday, July 11.
The event, dubbed "THRIVE 2025: Transforming Health, Revenue, and Innovation for Valuation Excellence in Local Government Unit," carries the theme: "Empowering LGUs with innovation, training, and wellness to effectively implement RPVARA and build resilient local governance."
