TANDAG CITY (PIA) — The Social Security System (SSS) Tandag Branch collected over P746,000 in remitted contributions from delinquent employers through its intensified implementation of the Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) program from January to May 2025.
According to SSS Tandag Branch Head Welfredo Luengas, a total of 34 employers were subjected to the RACE initiative during the five-month period. These employers were found non-compliant with Republic Act 11199 or the Social Security Act of 2018, resulting in a combined delinquency of P1.8 million.
Of this amount, P626,000 has already been recovered through full payments, while P120,000 was secured via installment agreements, reflecting a growing awareness and willingness among employers to settle their obligations.
“The RACE campaign is not just about enforcement, it’s about recovery and accountability,” Luengas said. “We are giving employers the chance to correct their lapses and protect their workers’ benefits, without having to face litigation.”
Prior to a press conference on June 26, SSS enforcement teams conducted onsite visits to eight delinquent employers within Tandag City, accompanied by representatives from the Mindanao North Legal Department and the Employer Delinquency Monitoring Department. These visits aimed to issue show-cause orders and initiate immediate compliance discussions.
SSS stressed the importance of compliance, as delays in contribution remittances deprive employees of critical social security benefits, including sickness, maternity, disability, and retirement coverage.
Luengas encouraged employers to coordinate proactively with their nearest SSS office to settle outstanding accounts, and reminded employees to routinely verify their contribution status.
SSS currently operates two branches in the province of Surigao del Sur, Tandag City and Bislig City, serving all 19 local government units in the province. These branches continue to spearhead SSS’s mission of ensuring equitable social protection for every Filipino worker. (NGPB, PIA Surigao del Sur)
