Bunawan’s children at the center of governance

PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur -- Mayor Sylvia Elorde of Bunawan, Agusan del Sur delivered her State of the Municipality and Children’s Address (SOMCA) on July 14, highlighting significant and meaningful programs and projects that promote the overall well-being of every child.

“As part of our efforts to build safe and child-friendly learning spaces, the LGU-Bunawan has established the Malinong Village, Libertad Child Development Center worth P2.5 million. Another is the Sta. Monica Bunawan Brook Child Development Center, with a project cost of P3 million, and the Bunawan National High School Laboratory Building, worth over P1 million,” she enumerated.

The local chief executive stressed that these are more than just infrastructure projects.

“They represent our commitment to ensuring that every child, no matter where they live, has access to quality early education in a safe, nurturing environment,” she said.

In 2024, a total of 35 fully functional Child Development Centers operated across Bunawan, serving 1,261 enrolled preschoolers.

Mayor Elorde also expressed her gratitude to all school personnel for their dedication and extra efforts in delivering quality service to the children’s sector.

The LGU has also allocated P1 million for the outdoor play facilities, water tank installations, and physical improvements, among others.

"We are committed to building a better and more progressive community. With your continued support, you can expect more developments in the coming months -- from improved infrastructure to enhanced public services. Together, we will create a brighter future for all," she underscored. (Jennifer P. Gaitano, PAMRE-PPIO Agusan del Sur/PIA Agusan del Sur)
