Agusan Sur receives banner host for Palarong Pambansa 2026

PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur (PIA) — Agusan del Sur Governor Santiago B. Cane, Jr. received the Palarong Pambansa banner from Ilocos Norte Governor Matthew Joseph Marcos Manotoc, symbolizing the province’s role as next year’s host from Ilocos Norte Governor Matthew Joseph Marcos Manotoc during the recent closing ceremony of the 2025 Palarong Pambansa at the Centennial Arena in Laoag, Ilocos Norte.
He congratulated Gov. Manotoc for the splendid hosting of the 65th Palarong Pambansa. He acknowledged the presence of Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sonny Angara, and to all stakeholders who contributed to the success of the event.
Gov. Cane, wearing the banner as cape said in his speech, “We accept this responsibility with pride and a deep sense of purpose. Our commitment is clear: to deliver a safe, inclusive, and memorable 66th Palarong Pambansa in the province of Agusan del Sur.”
Gov. Cane then exclaimed the longtime dream of the province of Agusan del Sur of hosting the event.
“For a long time, the province of Agusan del Sur has dreamt to host one of the most prestigious sporting events in the country—the Palarong Pambansa. With this in mind, we have been strengthening our sports and youth development programs, upgrading our facilities and equipment, and enhancing our tourist attractions to promote sports tourism in the province,” he said.
“Standing here today, I am both honored and humbled by the opportunity to welcome and host the Palarong Pambansa 2026 in our province,” he added.
He emphasized that this is not only a victory for the provincial government of Agusan del Sur (PGAS), but also a powerful source of inspiration for every young athlete in the province who aspires to achieve excellence through sports.
Also,. he expressed gratitude to the Palarong Pambansa Board and secretariat for their trust and confidence in Agusan del Sur, assuring them that the province will work even harder and will not fail to meet the expectations to one of the most prestigious sports in the country.
