LGU Tandag City gives logistic vehicle to farmers’ association

By Nida Grace P. Barcena

TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur (PIA) – The city government of Tandag, led by Mayor Roxanne C. Pimentel, recently turned over a brand new hauling truck to the Tandag-Lipata-Pacatang-Cagwait (TALIPACO) Farmers Association.

The ceremonial turnover, personally led by Mayor Pimentel, marked a major stride in improving transport and logistics for agricultural produce in the city’s rural communities. The new truck is expected to significantly ease the movement of goods from farms to markets, enhancing efficiency, reducing losses, and opening better income opportunities for farmers.

“This is more than just a vehicle, it’s a tool for empowerment,” said Mayor Pimentel. “Our farmers play a crucial role in ensuring food security and driving local progress. It is our responsibility to equip them with the means to thrive.”

Members of the TALIPACO Farmers Association expressed deep gratitude, noting how the new transport unit will address the challenges often faced by farmers such as post-harvest losses and high transportation costs, especially those members who till their lands in geographically isolated areas.

City Agriculture Office Chief Von Falcon also highlighted that the hauling truck serves as a testament to the city’s recognition of farmers’ contributions to the city’s economy and in achieving food self-sufficiency.

With this initiative, the city government continues to demonstrate its unwavering support to the agriculture sector, offering sustainable and practical solutions that uplift rural livelihood and strengthen the local food system. (NGPB, PIA Surigao del Sur)
