CSU introduce Sago Pith Extracting Machine to aid Leyte farmers

BUTUAN CITY -- Bringing research innovation in the local communities, the Caraga State University in Butuan City through its Center for Resource Assessment, Analytics, and Emerging Technologies (CReATE) and the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (DABE) formalized its partnership with the municipality of Julita, Leyte, through a memorandum of agreement (MOA) signing on March 25.

The activity included the official deployment of the Sago Pith Extracting Machine developed by the CSU SagoTech Project led by Engr. Aljon E. Bocobo. A separate operation training among recipient farmers was conducted on March 26, led by Engr. Bocobo and assisted by Engr. Neil Caesar M. Tado, ensuring the farmers are well-equipped to handle and maintain the enhanced machine.

The initiative is in collaboration with CSU, the municipality of Julita, Sanico Fabrication and Machineries, and local farmers’ organizations, with assistance from DOST—Technology Application and Promotion Institute (TAPI).

By extending assistance beyond the region, CSU solidified its commitment to transforming research into practical, community-driven solutions that advance agricultural innovation and benefit small-scale farmers and rural industries. (CSU PICO/ PIA Caraga)
