Tandag City gears up for a safe, meaningful Holy Week

By Nida Grace P. Barcena

TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur -- As Holy Week 2025 approaches, Tandag City intensifies its preparations to ensure a safe, solemn, and spiritually enriching observance for both locals and visitors.

A coordination meeting was earlier facilitated by the City Tourism Office, bringing together punong barangay from all 21 barangays of the city, and national government agencies concerned. The meeting aligned the efforts in maintaining peace and order, ensuring crowd control, and preparing necessary facilities for the influx of people during religious and cultural observances.

In line with this, several barangays have finalized their safety plans, while others continue their groundwork in coordination with the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and various civic groups.

Tourist and Assistance Desks are now operational in key locations identified, providing guidance and immediate assistance to pilgrims and tourists throughout the Holy Week.

The city government is calling on everyone to observe the season with reverence, discipline, and community spirit.

“This is a time to reflect and come together. Through unity and faith, we can make this Holy Week safe and meaningful for all,” City Tourism Officer Florence Abis said.

With proactive planning and strong community participation, Tandag City stands ready for this year’s Holy Week with faith, safety, and hospitality at its heart. (Photo courtesy of Tandag City Tourism Office/NGPB, PIA-Surigao del Sur)
