Agusan Sur unveils prototype mobile heater for Olympic-sized pool

By Kelvin Kennt R. Generalo

PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur — The provincial government of Agusan del Sur (PGAS), through the Innovation Technology (InnoTech) Agusan del Sur, conducted an actual demonstration of the newly-developed prototype mobile heater for the Olympic-sized swimming pool at the D.O. Plaza Sports Complex in Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.

The prototype mobile heater is designed to maintain a stable and controlled water temperature between 25-28 degrees Celsius, which is the standard for Olympic swimming pools.

“I am confident in presenting this because I have already prototyped and studied it in our fabrication facility. We are now conducting a run-through to observe its actual performance in the pool,” said Engineer Rudy Cane, InnoTech director.

“It will draw water from one side of the pool and release heated water on the other. This process allows the heater to move across the pool, ensuring proper water temperature distribution,” he added.

Cane and his team aim to produce 12 mobile pool heaters to achieve the desired pool water temperature within six hours of operation. He also explained that this initiative is part of the preparations for the upcoming Palarong Pambansa 2026, in which the province will serve as the host.

By utilizing this locally developed equipment, the government can save costs on purchasing expensive imported heaters for provincial development.

“They already canvassed pool heaters, but they cost millions and would only be used once during Palarong Pambansa. That’s why the local government unit (LGU) tasked InnoTech on finding an alternative solution,” said Cane.

“I challenge other provinces to establish their own InnoTech programs that will benefit their communities,” he added.

With InnoTech’s dedication, this prototype mobile heater served as a model for other areas in need of similar equipment. InnoTech is prepared to share its technology with those interested, offering an affordable, user-friendly, cost-efficient, and locally made innovation. (KKG, PIA Agusan del Sur)
