DILG allocates P45M for infrastructure, electrification projects in Surigao Sur

By Nida Grace P. Barcena

TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur—The Department of the Interior and Local Government allocated P45 million under the Support to Barangay Development Program for fiscal year 2024 to fund nine key infrastructure and electrification projects in various municipalities across Surigao del Sur.

The projects were recently shared with members of the Provincial Peace and Order Council during its first quarter meeting.

Rizza Sion, DILG provincial director, said, “Each project, worth P5 million, was designed to improve essential services in communities and enhance the quality of life in rural and conflict-affected areas.”

She added that the nine projects include renewable energy-based electrification, potable water systems and farm-to-market roads:

Tandag City:

  • Provision of renewable energy-based electrification (solar electrification) – Barangay Pangi.
  • Concreting of farm-to-market road – Barangay San Isidro.

Barobo:

  • Concreting of farm-to-market road – Barangay Amaga.
  • Construction of Level III potable water supply system – Barangay Sudlon.

The Support to Barangay Development Program is part of the government’s whole-of-nation approach to ending local communist armed conflict by addressing the root causes of insurgency through sustainable development and service delivery. (NGPB, PIA-Surigao del Sur)
