DSWD-13 kicks-off 2025 with launch of Superstore

BUTUAN CITY -- The Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office (FO) Caraga and the Abot Kaya Poblacion SLP Association recently opened a new Superstore in Brgy. Poblacion, Bayugan City.

The launch was led by the SLP Provincial Operations Office of Agusan del Sur and their project development officers, along with Bayugan City Mayor Kirk Asis.

The Superstore is a unique project by SLP Caraga aimed at addressing the community’s need for accessible and affordable goods while fostering local entrepreneurship. It offers a larger, more modern version of the traditional community store and is also designed to serve as a bulk supplier of goods to nearby microenterprises.

“We are incredibly grateful to DSWD for granting us this livelihood assistance. We assure you that we will nurture this opportunity and strive to further develop this project,” said Abot Kaya Poblacion SLP Association (SLPA) President Warlito Daug.

President Daug further emphasized the project’s positive impact on the community and neighboring barangays.

“This project doesn’t only benefit us, but also the residents of nearby barangays. Many locals, especially those who own small stores, were looking for a nearby place to purchase goods. Now, they don’t have to travel far for their daily necessities,” he added.

SLP Caraga previously opened its first Superstore in San Francisco, Agusan del Sur, and plans to establish more of these stores across the region to expand its sustainable livelihood initiatives and benefit more Caraganons. (DSWD Caraga/PIA-Caraga)
