544th Engineer Battalion welcomes newly-assigned personnel, privates

PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur -- In a ceremony symbolizing the spirit of camaraderie and unity, the 544th Engineer (Pioneers) Construction Battalion welcomed its newly-assigned personnel and privates recently at the Battalion Multi-Purpose Hall, Camp Democrito O. Plaza, Brgy. Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.

The event was presided over by Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) Ricky N. Baguio, the commanding officer, who delivered an inspiring message to the new members.

A memorable moment of the event was the reception rites, which included a 3.2-kilometer run and five stations filled with various exercises. This was followed by the program proper, where the Pinning of the Unit Patch took place—a symbolic act marking the official integration of the new personnel into the battalion.

"Huwag niyo isiping bago kayo ditto, dahil kayo ay kabilang na ng 544 ECB (Don't think you're new here, because you're already part of the 544ECB)," Baguio said.

During his speech, the commanding officer emphasized that the new personnel are not merely additions to the unit but are now part of the 544ECB family.

The commanding officer’s message reinforced the battalion’s commitment to fostering a culture of unity, discipline, and shared purpose. Another special moment was the "Pioneers' Welcome Sip," a symbolic toast using the 544ECB Engineer’s Wine, underscoring the unit’s strong sense of tradition and camaraderie.

The ceremony concluded with a group photo session, capturing the memorable occasion.
