PMO Surigao gears up for Undas
SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte --- In compliance with the directives of the General Manager of the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), the Port Management Office (PMO) of Surigao initiated extensive preparations for the anticipated surge of travelers for the observance of Undas 2024.
The PMO has put into motion the “OPLAN BIYAHENG AYOS: Implementation of Heightened Alert Status During Undas with Malasakit Help Desk," a comprehensive initiative that brings together multiple government agencies to ensure smooth, safe, and efficient travel operations during the Undas season.
In a key stakeholders' meeting held earlier, PMO Surigao Port Manager Froilan Caturla convened with representatives from various sectors including shipping lines, the Maritime Industry Authority, Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine National Police, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and other entities in the port community.
The meeting focused on coordinating crucial measures to ensure smooth travel operations during the upcoming observance of All Saints' and All Souls' Days.
A parallel coordination meeting was conducted at the Lipata Ferry Terminal, one of the region's busiest maritime gateways during Undas.
Terminal Manager Allan Yap led the discussion with local stakeholders to address specific challenges faced by the ferry service.
PMO Surigao encouraged all passengers to arrive early at the terminals and to cooperate with security procedures to ensure a smooth journey.
The enhanced measures remain in effect throughout the Undas period to accommodate the traditional influx of travelers visiting their hometowns and paying respects to departed loved ones. (PPA-PMO Surigao/PIA- Surigao del Norte)
