(PAGASA 24-HOUR PUBLIC WEATHER FORECAST as of Wednesday, 05 November 2025) At 3:00 AM today, the center of Typhoon "TINO" {KALMAEGI} was estimated based on all available data over the coastal waters of Taytay, Palawan (11.1°N, 119.9°E) with maximum sustained winds of 120 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 165 km/h. It is moving West Northwestward at 15 km/h. Light to Moderate rains are expected over #TawiTawi(TurtleIslands), #ZamboangaDelNorte, #ZamboangaSibugay(Payao, Imelda and Malangas) within the next 2-3 hours. Moderate to occasionally heavy rains are being experienced in #TawiTawi(Mapun), #Sulu(Pangutaran), #ZamboangaSibugay(Alicia, Mabuhay, Talusan and Olutanga) which may persist within 2-3 hours and may affect nearby areas.

BFAR-13 presents assessment result on shellfish farming to LGU Surigao City

SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte -- The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) National Fisheries Development Center (NFDC) recently presented to City Mayor Pablo Yves L. Dumlao II the initial results of a two-day site assessment for oyster and mussel farming in Surigao City.

The presentation was led by BFAR NFDC Aqua/Shellfish Unit Head Francisco M. Reyes Jr., alongside a team of experts including Raquel A. Ferrer, Jurads H. Dalisay, Carlo E. Bunducan, Romeo R. Visperas, Marjorie B. Valiente, and Cecile C. Bag-ao. 

The assessment sought to explore sustainable aquaculture opportunities to boost local fisherfolk livelihood and ensure the long-term viability of shellfish farming in the area.

Mayor Dumlao expressed strong support to the initiative, highlighting the importance of providing sustainable livelihood options for local communities. 

He assured BFAR of the local government’s commitment to collaborate on aquaculture projects that will benefit fisherfolk and contribute to the region's economic growth. (Surigao City-PIO/PIA- Surigao del Norte)
