DILG-13 distributes gifts to elderly of Por Cristo Foundation in Butuan

BUTUAN CITY -- In line with Proclamation No. 70, series of 1994, the Department of  the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Caraga, under the leadership of Regional Director Maria Louisella E. Lucino and Assistant Regional Dir. Donald A. Seronay, together with division heads and select personnel, commemorated the "Elderly Filipino Week" by visiting and gift-giving at Por Cristo Foundation, Inc. in Buenavista, Agusan del Norte on October 11, 2024.

The DILG team extended its annual support to the elderly residents of Por Cristo, a sanctuary for abandoned senior citizens, by donating eight sacks of rice, various food items, and essential supplies such as soap and canned goods.

Each resident-senior citizen received these items as part of DILG Caraga's commitment to uplifting the lives of the elderly.

Reflecting this year’s theme, "Senior Citizen: Building the Nation, Inspiring Generations," a short program followed the turnover ceremony, allowing the residents to showcase their talents through song and dance. Their performances, filled with joy and gratitude, expressed their appreciation for the DILG's visit and support.

The Por Cristo Foundation, Inc., registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), has dedicated over a decade to serving indigent and abandoned elderly individuals, providing them with a home and hope for a better life. (LGOO V Karen Grace Gabinete, Senior Technical Staff, LGCDD, DILG Region XIII/PIA-Caraga)
