Over 500 micro-enterprises train on basin resilience, bookkeeping
BUTUAN CITY -- A total of 515 micro-enterprises participated in a training on Basic Resilience and Bookkeeping spearheaded by the Department of Trade and Industry's (DTI) under the program on Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa (PPG).
The training equipped the participants with essential tools to ensure business
continuity in times of disaster.
Trade and Industry Development Specialist Charmaine Jonine B. Nabio, along with Senior Business Counselor Zara Sanchez, guided the participants in creating their personalized Business Resilience Plans that outlines the crucial steps that businesses should take before, during, and after a disaster to minimize risk and recover efficiently.
In addition to disaster preparedness, the seminar introduced to the beneficiaries the fundamentals of bookkeeping. Participants were shown the five essential accounting books that should be maintained for business operations. This practical workshop helped them maintain better financial records and foster business growth.
Information materials on consumer-related matters and business opportunities were also provided to further support the business enterprises.
The seminar targeted beneficiaries from barangays affected by calamity last February, including the flood-stricken areas of Baan Riverside, Maon, Mahogany, Maug, Banza, Buhangin, Bading, and San Vicente in Butuan City, as well as Pinana-an in Las Nieves. Fire victims from Carmen and Nasipit were also identified as beneficiaries.
The program on PPG is a government initiative to assist micro-enterprises affected by fire incidents, calamities, and conflicts. It aims to provide economic relief and support post-disaster recovery, ensuring that affected entrepreneurs can resume and sustain their livelihood. (DTI-Agusan del Norte/PIA-Agusan del Norte)
