PNP-13 crackdown on illegal gambling, nets 55 individuals

BUTUAN CITY -- Operatives of Police Regional Office (PRO)13 apprehended 55 illegal gambling suspects following the separate law enforcement operations in the region from August 1 to 20. 

PBGen. Alan M. Nazarro, PRO13 director, revealed that of the total number of arrested persons, 22 were arrested by Agusan del Sur Police Provincial Office (PPO), 14 by Surigao del Sur PPO, 13 by Agusan del Norte PPO, and six by the Regional Intelligence Division (RID) 13.

The suspects were caught playing ‘swertres,’ last two, and last three; and other forms of illegal gambling such as cockfighting and card games.

Police confiscated playing cards, fighting cocks, and bet money amounting to P29,730.

“The suspects have been charged with violation of Presidential Decree No. 1602 before the Prosecutor’s Office. Our full-scale operations against illegal gambling continue to bring the violators behind bars,” PBGen. Nazarro stated. (PRO13/PIA-Caraga)
