Disability federation leaders in Caraga to converge for cerebral palsy week

BUTUAN CITY – The Regional Committee on Disability Affairs (RCDA) chaired by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Caraga organized the conduct of “21st Cerebral Palsy Awareness and Protection Week: Forum with Disability Federation Leaders on September 23, 2024 in one of the convention centers of this city.

According to DSWD Caraga Director Mari-Flor Dollaga, also the chairperson of RCDA Caraga, the representatives and focal persons from the member agencies of RCDA will also join and witness the said event.

“The Cerebral Palsy Awareness and Protection Week is annually commemorated on September 16-22 of every year by virtue of Proclamation No. 588, which aims to raise awareness about the condition and address myths and stereotypes, as well as promote early detection and intervention,” she said.

Dir. Dollaga further bared that this forum also aims to advocate for the active and meaningful participation of people and children with cerebral palsy, including families and caregivers.

“The celebration highlights the role of the government and non-government stakeholders in creating inclusive environments for all persons with disabilities,” she said. (JPG/PIA-Caraga)
