Army's Engineering Battalion joins livelihood education workshop in Agusan Sur

PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur – In a continuous effort to empower and support its personnel and their dependents, the 544th  Engineer Construction Battalion, in collaboration with the Philippine Army Finance Center Producers Integrated Cooperative (PAFCPIC)-Butuan City Branch, headed by Marjolien R. Dandoy, and represented by Membership and Marketing Assistant Melcah Mae C. Fernandez, conducted a Military Livelihood Education Workshop focused on Cakes and Pastries, held at the Battalion Headquarters of this province on September 7 with Rosario D. Reyes-Buenaflor as the resource speaker.

The workshop equipped the participants with essential baking skills, including bread and pastry making, cake decoration, and the basics of entrepreneurship. It is part of the battalion’s continuing education program, designed to foster self-sufficiency and provide alternative income-generating opportunities for personnel and their dependents.

The training emphasized practical baking techniques while introducing participants to the essentials of running a small business.

This program also underscored the Battalion’s strong partnership with the PAFCPIC-Butuan City Branch in promoting community development through livelihood programs. The cooperative has been a steadfast supporter of the unit’s initiatives to improve the economic well-being of soldiers and their families, especially in areas like entrepreneurship and financial literacy.

Through this collaboration, the 544 Engineering Construction Battalion (ECB) continued to demonstrate its commitment not only to nation-building but also to the holistic growth and empowerment of its personnel and their dependents.

The Unit expressed its gratitude to PAFCPIC for providing this valuable opportunity, noting that the skills acquired by its personnel and dependents will significantly enhance their capacity to start small, home-based businesses.

The 544ECB remains committed to exploring similar programs, recognizing the importance of continuous learning and self-development in improving the welfare of its personnel. (544 ECB/PIA-Agusan del Sur)
