Agrarian farmers in Surigao Norte graduate from farm business school

SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte (PIA)  --  Thirty agrarian reform beneficiaries from San Isidro Farmers Agrarian Reform Cooperative (SIFARBECO) graduated as farmer-entrepreneurs from the farm business school (FBS) spearheaded by the Department of Agrarian Reform Provincial Office of Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands on June 18 held at the RIC Building in Placer, Surigao del Norte.

The farmer graduates hurdled the 25 modules conducted weekly and the learning-by-doing sessions from March 12 to May 28.

In his message, Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Vincent L. Ramos congratulated the SIFARBECO graduates saying, “ Your graduation is only the beginning of a long-lasting partnership for a strong and vibrant agrarian organization as envisioned in Bagong Pilipinas.”

Meanwhile, on behalf of SIFARBECO Board of Director Nerlinda E. Timbal expressed her gratitude to DAR and the local government unit of Placer.

"Words cannot express how thankful we are to DAR. They have been guiding us right from the start up to this day, to transform us into farmer entrepreneurs," said Timbal.

On her part, Mayor Jovymarie C. Villazon reaffirmed her support to the program and the future endeavors and collaboration with DAR.

"The LGU of Placer is one call away for any assistance for our essential needs. We commit to help uplift the lives of our dear farmers not only here in San Isidro but in the whole of Placer,” Mayor Villazon said.

The said graduation was attended by officials from partner line agencies such as the Provincial Cooperative Development Office, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Science and Technology and the provincial and municipal agriculture offices.

The FBS is one of the partnership development programs of DAR that aims to help agrarian farmers learn how to build farming enterprises and farm operations profitable and able to respond to market demands in their local environment where they can work in small groups at their own pace and become ‘negosyanteng magsasaka.’ (DAR-SDN/PIA-Surigao del Norte)
