DTI enhances weaving skills of women in Dinagat Islands' town
DINAGAT, Dinagat Islands - DTI enhances weaving skills of women in Dinagat Islands' town The Department of Trade and Industry in the Province of Dinagat Islands, through the Negosyo Center Program and the One Town, One Product (OTOP) Program, recently conducted a three-day enhancement skills training on Romblon weaving to the members of the Navarro Women Association in Basilisa town.
The members learned new strategies and best practices of Romblon weaving, developing new prototypes, and generating sustainable livelihood at Navarro Women’s Association SLP Building, with Gina Bagasbas as the resource person of the activity, alongside the assistance of Evangeline Cebe and Lorena Mullon.
Despite the bumpy and narrow roads that make it difficult to reach
Barangay Navarro, the training was fruitful in producing newly developed
product prototypes. The members were able to surpass the challenge of creating
new products, such as bags, instead of their traditional mat weaving.
The enhancement training on Romblon weaving provided an opportunity for the members of the group to enhance their skills and generate a sustainable livelihood for themselves and their community. (DTI-Dinagat Islands/PIA-Dinagat Islands)
