DA-13 brings Serbisyo Fair - Kadiwa ng Pangulo to Siargao Island 

SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte (PIA) -- The Department of Agriculture (DA) Caraga brought the services of the government under the program on Serbisyo Fair- Kadiwa ng Pangulo in General Luna, Siargao Island in Surigao del Norte.

During the Serbisyo Fair- Kadiwa ng Pangulo, DA Caraga and its 12 attached agencies and bureaus provided various interventions such as planting materials, seedlings of different crop commodities, drugs and biologics, and fertilizers to the nine municipalities of the island.

Also, services such as National Coconut Farmers’ Registry System (NCFRS) registration, orientation and application for fisheries scholarship program, Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) certification, incentives orientation, technical assistance, and the distribution of information, education, and communication (IEC) materials were also provided and freely given to the farmers and fisherfolk of the place.

DA Caraga also turned over a total of P500,000 worth of planting materials such as American lemon, pili, mushroom, banana, guyabano, and vegetable seeds, free-range chicken, and Itik Pinas ducklings that were distributed to selected local government units (LGUs) and farmers’ cooperatives and associations (FCAs). Some 600 heads of free-range chickens and Itik Pinas ducklings were also distributed. 

Regional Executive Dir. Arlan M. Mangelen said that the entire personnel of the DA Caraga traveled to Siargao Island just to bring the necessary services to the farmers and fisherfolk in the island.

Meanwhile, General Luna Vice Mayor Dr. Romina Sajulga expressed gratitude for extending the Serbisyo Fair- Kadiwa ng Pangulo to their constituents.

“As an island with booming tourism, everyone must rely on local production to meet the growing food demand,” Sajulga said.

"By empowering and strengthening our farmers and fisherfolk through government assistance like the DA Serbisyo Fair- Kadiwa ng Pangulo, we can achieve the goal of food sufficiency,” she added.

The event allowed the residents and domestic and foreign tourists to explore the Kadiwa ng Pangulo, where fresh products from local producers and agriculture entrepreneurs were sold at affordable prices, as well as showcased in booths and exhibits. (DA- Caraga/PIA-Surigao del Norte)
