Rural bank recognizes police, citizen in apprehending robbery suspect in Agusan Norte town

BUTUAN CITY --  Cantilan Bank-Buenavista Branch recognized the police officer and a local resident for the apprehension of a robbery suspect in Buenavista, Agusan del Norte.

Herbert M. Peligro, manager of Cantilan Bank-Buenavista Branch, together with PBGen. Kirby John B. Kraft, Philippine National Police (PNP) Caraga Regional Director and PCol. Michael F. Lebanan, deputy regional director for operations/OIC deputy regional director for administration, personally handed the certificate of appreciation to PSSg. Niño I. Gonzales, assigned at Buenavista Municipal Police Station (MPS), and a cash reward to Levie C. Taragua.

According to the report, a robbery incident transpired on May 3, 2024, around 2:30 AM at the ATM Machine of Cantilan Bank in Purok 3, Brgy. 1, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte.

Buenavista MPS immediately responded and conducted an investigation. A local resident who stood as witness helped the police by providing the vital information leading to the capture of the suspect, a 16-year-old male resident of Brgy. Talo-ao, Buenavista town.

PBGen. Kraft lauded the swift response of the municipal police, an example of the effective and efficient implementation of the S.A.F.E Caraga; where Caraga cops should be Seen, Approachable, Felt, and Efficient.

“This incident underscored the invaluable importance of immediate police response and investigation as well as the cooperation of the public which led to the arrest of the suspect.
