Agusan Sur's Red Cross bags top PH performing chapter

AGUSAN DEL SUR -- The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) - Agusan del Sur Chapter bagged the number 1 spot as the top performing among all chapters in the country for the year 2023.

Of the top ten chapters nationwide, Agusan del Sur is the only chapter with a positive rating of 105 percent while the chapter ranking second got 93 percent and the rest were below 90 percent. 

Reports from PRC - Agusan del Sur showed that last year, the actual resources collected from membership was P3,488,860; government donations and support for training services, P76,000; corporate donations and support for PRC activities, P73,000; individual and walk-in donations, P34,700; merchandise and souvenir items, P13,825 and; bank interests, P4,231 totaling to P3,690,606. 

Other collections while rendering program-related services like blood processing fees, various training fees and ambulance services reached P23,154,620, making a grand total of resources of P26,845,236.

The targeted resources last year were pegged at P25,552,881, the reason why the chapter registered a 105 percent performance rating. 

For 2024, the target resource generation requirement assigned to PRC - Agusan del Sur chapter is P38,061,020. 

Last year, the chapter spent on welfare services like trainings and welfare assistance, international humanitarian law dissemination activities and fund generation operating expenses the amount of P11,884,924, saving some P1,385,168 against the approved target of P13,270,093. 

The organizational development expenses for chapter management and staff development utilities, maintenance and operating expenses, fixed assets and manpower cost and remittance to the national headquarters also reached P8,125,648 against the approved budget of P7,652,764, a little short of P472,884 against the actual expenses incurred. 

But overall, the approved budget of P20,922,857 against the actual expenditure of P20,010,573, translated to a 96 percent budget utilization for the chapter. 

On April 22, 2024, during the Monday flag raising ceremony held at the D.O. Plaza Sports Complex in Patin-ay, Prosperidad, the PRC - Agusan del Sur handed over to Gov. Santiago Cane, Jr. a plaque of appreciation to recognize the support of the provincial government in achieving its accomplishments last year.

Liza Gilot, a member of the Board of Directors highlighted the achievements the chapter garnered last year.

The citations include PRC - Agusan del Sur being the number one nationwide on membership, number one on target resources for three consecutive years from 2021 to 2023, and number one in blood program having a unique implementation where the provincial government shouldered the expenses for blood processing, giving Agsurnons free blood for their patients.
