FORECAST: The Zamboanga Peninsula will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the Southwest Monsoon. These conditions may lead to possible flash floods or landslides, especially during moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall. The rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms also influenced by the Southwest Monsoon. Winds will be light to moderate from the southwest, with slight to moderate seas (wave height between 0.6 to 2.1 meters).

Council on children, women recognizes Agusan Sur cops

PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur – The Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) and Local Committee Against Trafficking-Violence Against Women and their Children (LCAT-VAWC) in the province of Agusan del Sur, recognized the personnel of the Agusan del Sur Police Provincial Office Women and Children Protection Desk (ADSPPO-WCPD) led by Police Captain Renlyn P. Arroz, during the provincial summit, held at the covered court, Gov. D.O. Plaza government center, Prosperidad, this province on December 19, 2023. 

The ADSPPO-WCPD was recognized for being active in responding to the reports/complaints on VAWC and trafficking in persons-related incidents in the province.

Col. Jovito Canlapan, provincial director of ADSPPO expressed his warm congratulations to all the units that contributed to the success of its operations against VAWC and gender-based violence.

“I highly commended our WCPD personnel led by PCapt. Arroza for earning such recognition by our allied government agencies. May this recognition served as an inspiration for them (WCPD personnel) to perform more of their noblest duty in securing the safety and welfare of our women and children. Keep up the good work!" said Canlapan.

The said event bared the theme, “Agsurnon Para Sa Babae at Bata: Upholding the Implementation of Women and Children Protection Policy."
