(PAGASA 24-HOUR PUBLIC WEATHER FORECAST as of Tuesday, 09 December 2025) At 3:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Depression "WILMA" was estimated based on all available data in the vicinity of Matuguinao, Samar (12.2°N 125.0°E) with maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 75 km/h. It is moving West Northwestward at 15 km/h. Shear Line affecting the eastern section of Southern Luzon. Northeast Monsoon affecting the rest of Luzon. Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to Localized Thunderstorms. Possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms. Moderate to strong winds from northeast to northwest will prevail over the western sections of Mindanao with moderate to rough seas (1.2 to 3.1 meters). Elsewhere, moderate winds from the northwest to southwest to southeast with moderate seas (1.2 to 2.5 meters).

SK chairpersons vow to curb teenage pregnancies

BUENAVISTA, Agusan del Norte --  Newly elected Sangguniang Kabataan chairpersons from the different barangays of the cities of Butuan and Cabadbaran vowed to implement interventions to curb the incidence of teenage pregnancies in their respective communities as support Executive Order No.141 during the recent regional forum in Butuan City.

The young leaders took their oath to support the strategy on Advancing Adolescent Health and Development recognizing the urgency and significance of addressing teenage pregnancies through the implementation of community-fit programs, projects and activities.

Also, the SK chairpersons committed to pass a Resolution supporting and endorsing Senate Bill No. 1979-Prevention of Adolescent Pregnancy Act, with the guidance of the Commission on Population and Development (CPD) Caraga. Moreover, to concretize the support of the SK officials, a community custom-fit action plans addressing teenage pregnancies were immediately submitted during the activity.

The regional forum was organized by the CPD - Caraga in coordination with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)  that equipped the newly elected SK officials with knowledge and skills to effectively address the root causes of teenage pregnancies in their respective areas through strategic initiatives.

Such actions were also anchored on the presentation of  Philippine Population and Development-Program of Action 2023-2028, specifically on Strategy No. 2 entitled, “Advancing Adolescent Health and Development, and also Senate Bill No. 1979 or the Prevention of Adolescent Pregnancy Act.

According to CPD - Caraga Regional Director Alexander A. Makinano, the forum on addressing teenage pregnancies enhanced the understanding among SK officials the national priority outlined in Executive Order No. 141 and also served as a venue for knowledge-sharing among SK chairpersons ensuring a unified approach to tackle teenage pregnancies.(Angie Antonio, information officer, CPD-Caraga/PIA-Agusan del Norte)
