PSA opens civil registry outlet in Tandag

By Nida Grace P. Barcena

TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur -- To bring the services on civil registration closer to the residents of Surigao del Sur and nearby areas, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) successfully inaugurated and opened its new Civil Registry System (CRS) outlet in Tandag City on November 8, at the JTP Building, ground floor, Capitol Road in Tandag City.

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Civil Registry System Information Technology Project Phase II (CRS-ITP2) is a new system with improved applications, new services, and a shortened processing period for its Civil Registry System (CRS) outlets nationwide, Batch Request System (BREQS) accredited partners, and online channels.

The CRS takes care of services including the issuance of Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate, and Death Certificate, with authentication cost of P155. The CENOMAR or certificate of no marriage, and CENODEATH, on the other hand, require a fee of P210.

PSA - Surigao del Sur provincial chief Ruel Dres said that the new and upgraded Civil Registry System (CRS) outlet served as the 3rd in Caraga region to serve the public. Other two outlets are located in the cities of Butuan City and Surigao.

The PSA - Civil Registry System Outlet in Tandag City initially conducted its soft opening on October 25 of this year, prior to the full opening of its system.

“A total of 150 clients were accommodated, with at least two documents transacted/requested/ applied for on the soft opening day. Per record, the police personnel topped the list of the most served clientele,” Dres confirmed.

Rolie, a walk-in client, expressed his glee as he was able to save money and time when he requested for a certain document.

“ A client has to wait for 15 working days if requested at the PSA in Tandag City. Others even had to go to Butuan City or Surigao City. With this CRS outlet now available, it is very convenient for everyone,” Rolie said.

It can be recalled that the PSA served the Civil Registry System- Information Technology Project Phase 1 (CRS-ITP1) in the province, however, sometime in May 2010, the service stopped when the office was destroyed by fire, including the equipment that was left unserviceable.
