By Jennifer P. Gaitano

BUTUAN CITY – With the upcoming second leg of the Provincial Dagyaw Open Government Town Hall Meeting dubbed “Dagyaw tu Agusan del Sur 2023” to be held at the covered court of GDOP Government Center, Prosperidad, this province, the provincial government of Agusan del Sur (PGAS) headed by Governor Santiago Cane Jr., along with the different sectors, is now on green light to gather a crowd of more than 200 participants for a productive discussion.

This event is in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Budget and Management (DBM), Philippine Information Agency (PIA), and civil society organizations (CSOs).

According to DILG - Agusan del Sur provincial director Arleen Ann Sanchez, the Provincial Dagyaw aims to achieve the following objectives: 1) Provide and open, neutral, and protected space for dialogue on public issues; and 2) Enrich the level of participation of the town hall meeting through a robust publicity campaign and to allow the public to have a say in the topics set to be tackled.

“The Provincial Dagyaw in Agusan del Sur will focus the discussion on the poverty alleviation program of the provincial government. Some 210 representatives from the different sectors in the province will participate in this event and will address the most pressing issues on poverty in the communities.

This event will also be livestreamed through the Facebook pages of the Provincial Public Information Office (PPIO) Agusan del Sur, PTV Agusan del Sur, dxGP 89.7 FM Agusan Radio, Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Agusan del Sur, and Gemstar Cable TV.

Dagyaw, or “Bayanihan” in the local dialect, is an open town hall meeting that continues to be a platform for government agencies, civic and people’s organizations to improve trust and confidence in the government through dialogue.

The Dagyaw in Agusan del Sur bares the theme, “Maayong Panggamhanan, Pakig-ambit sa Katawhan.” (JPG/PIA-Agusan del Sur)
