Over P11M salary released to TUPAD workers in AgSur
AGUSAN DEL SUR -- In an effort to battle poverty through provision of livelihood opportunities to the Agsurnons, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) - Agusan del Sur released P11,191,250 through the simultaneous payout of the Tulong Panghanap-buhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced (TUPAD) workers for the 14 municipalities of this province on October 16 to 19, 2023.
2nd District Representative Adolph Edward Plaza, together with 1st District Representative Alfelito Bascug, Governor Santiago B. Cane Jr., Vice Governor Samuel Tortor, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) members, and municipal mayors, with DOLE-ADSFO head Buhawe B. Corvera-Correa, expressed full support to the said event.
The congressional representatives expressed their hopes that the salaries which the beneficiaries received would aid in alleviating their present economic status.
Gov. Cane expressed his gratitude to DOLE for continuously supporting the province of Agusan del Sur saying, “Let us all be hopeful as we continuously aim for a better Agusan del Sur, by providing our constituents with emergency employment opportunities.”
Jonito Egay, a TUPAD beneficiary from the local government unit of Bunawan expressed his gratitude to the DOLE and to the provincial leaders of Agusan del Sur for helping them fend for their basic needs. “Daghan kaayung salamat sa DOLE, sa ilang program nga TUPAD ug mga tao nga nag-pundo inii. Kini among gamiton pang-palit og bugas ug pagkaon ug para sa mga bata, kung adunay mabilin e-savings arun naay magamit sa panahon sa kapit-os [Thank you very much to DOLE’s TUPAD program and everyone behind this. We will use this to buy our food and to fend for our children. We will save the rest so we can use it in case of emergency],” Egay shared.
TUPAD is one of the salient components of DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP). It is a community-based assistance package that provides emergency employment for qualified beneficiaries, such as underemployed and seasonal workers, for a minimum of 10 days and a maximum of 30 days.
