Farmers receive training, market opportunity of coconut in Surigao Norte

SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) - Surigao del Norte, through its industry development unit, in partnership with Philippine coconut Authority and Office of the Provincial Agriculture, recently conducted the skills training on coconut by-product cum market opportunity seminar in Barangay Nuevo Campo, San Benito, Surigao del Norte. 

The conduct of the said seminar is part of the target activities of the coconut Farmers Industry Development Plan (CFIDP) in Surigao del Norte, in order to create additional products from this tree of life.

A total of 25 members from Nuevo Campo Development Cooperative participated in the activity and produced coconut by-products such as buko pie, coco toyo, coco vinegar, coco macaroons, processed buko juice, coco oil, and coco yema. 

The training was successfully conducted in coordination with the local government unit of San Benito under the leadership of Mayor Ma. Gina S. Menil and Vice Mayor Wellybell A. Requireme. (DTI-Surigao del Norte/PIA-Surigao del Norte)
