Caraga crime incidents drop to 20%

BUTUAN CITY --  Citing the record from the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division, the total crime incidents in the region dropped by 20% from October 16 to 22, 2023, compared to the data from October 9 to 15, 2023.

Police Regional Office (PRO) -13 director PBGen. Kirby John B. Kraft disclosed that a total of 150 crime incidents were recorded from October 9 to 15 comprised of 90 under the peace and order indicators (POI), and 60 under the public safety indicators (PSI).

The figures were significantly reduced to 120 crime incidents on October 16 to 22, 2023, with only 72 under the POI and 48 under the PSI, noting a remarkable decreased of 30 incidents.

The POI comprised the totality of index and non-index crimes, while the PSI categorized incidents and culpable felonies that reflected the public safety situation of a particular community.

“We have proven that when the police and the community come together, we can achieve remarkable results, especially in peace and order. Rest assured that we shall keep this momentum going as the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections and All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day are fast approaching,” Dir. Kraft emphasized.
