More super health centers to rise nationwide
BISLIG CITY, Surigao del Sur -- To strengthen the country's health sector, the Senate Committee on Health chairperson, Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, supported the construction of more super health centers nationwide, specifically in Barobo, San Agustin and Tagbina, all in the province of Surigao del Sur, as enough funds had been allocated to build the 307 super health centers in 2022 and 322 more in 2023.
The super health center is a medium version of a polyclinic and an improved
version of the rural health unit. Patterned on its original plan, the facility
has a land area of 514.3 square meters, as identified by the Department of
Health (DOH), as the lead agency of the program and tasked to identify
strategic locations of the facilities.
These centers, according to Senator Go, will offer database management,
out-patient, birthing, isolation, diagnostic laboratory services like x-ray and ultrasound,
pharmacy, and ambulatory surgical unit. Other available services are eye, ear,
nose, and throat (EENT) service; oncology centers; physical therapy and
rehabilitation centers; and telemedicine, which makes remote diagnosis and
treatment of patients possible.
“Ito ay isang malaking hakbang para mapalapit ang gobyerno sa mga Pilipino,
lalo na sa mga nangangailangan ng serbisyong medikal. Ang Super Health Center
ay may layunin na ilapit ang serbisyo medikal sa inyong pamilya sa pamamagitan
ng pagbigay ng primary care, medical consultations at early detection of
diseases sa inyong komunidad,” Senato Go said during the recent launching of
the 159th Malasakit Center in Bislig City.
Moreover,
Go highlighted the recent passage of Republic Act No. 11959 or the Regional
Specialty Centers Act which mandated the establishment of Regional Specialty
Centers within existing DOH regional hospitals.
“Marami po sa mga kababayan natin sa iba’t ibang sulok ng Pilipinas ang walang
sapat na health facilities na makakagamot sa kanilang mga karamdaman. Kaya
importante na mailapit natin ang serbisyong medikal mula gobyerno sa mga taong
nangangailangan nito,” Go stressed.
As the province is dear to his heart, the senator also extended his support to
several projects in Bislig City to further contribute to its development, such
as the construction of an evacuation center and multipurpose buildings,
and the paving of a road along Bocto-Tumanan. (NGPB, PIA-Surigao del Sur)
