(PAGASA 24-HOUR PUBLIC WEATHER FORECAST as of Saturday, 19 July 2025) As of 3:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Depression “CRISING” was located at 530 km east of Juban, Sorsogon (13.0°N, 128.9°E). It has maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 70 km/h. It is moving west-northwest at 15 km/h. Tropical Depression Crising is currently affecting Dinagat Islands and Surigao del Norte, while the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) continues to affect the rest of Mindanao. Dinagat Islands and Surigao del Norte will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to TD Crising. Flash floods or landslides are possible during moderate to at times heavy rainfall. Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and the rest of Caraga will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms caused by the Southwest Monsoon. The rest of Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, also due to the Southwest Monsoon. Winds will be moderate from the southwest to west, with moderate seas (wave height: 1.2 to 2.5 meters).

Farmers, livestock associations receive composting facility in Cantilan town

CANTILAN, Surigao del Sur -- The local government unit of Cantilan, in partnership with the Bureau of Soil and Water Management (BSWM) successfully turned over a unit of composting facility for biodegradable waste (CFDW) to Toblihon Farmers/ Livestock and Poultry Raisers Association, under the National Organic Agriculture Program (NOAP) of the Department of Agriculture (DA), as implemented by the BSWM on 07 August 2023 in Sitio Toblihon, Parang, Cantilan, Surigao del Sur.

The said intervention is part of the capacity enhancement on the operations and maintenance of composting facility for biodegradable waste which aims to recycle market and agricultural waste to produce organic compost fertilizer for rice and corn and high-value crops in support to DA’s drive towards food decurity.

Sangguniang Bayan member Romeo Emmanuel D. Azarcon, municipal agriculturist; Ceasar Q. Blanco, punong barangay of Parang; Edel S. Bendoy, BSWM project assistant; Ariel G. Almeda and BSWM focal person; Julio Turata were present to grace to the event.

Meanwhile, another set of CFDW was also received by the Domoyog Farmers/ Livestock and Poultry Raisers Association (FLPRA). Site inspection and signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was conducted at the Domoyog vermiculture facility in Barangay Calagdaan, Cantilan in Surigao del Sur.
