Affordable shelter leads off to gov't employees in Tandag
TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur -- The local government unit of Tandag City led by local chief executive Roxanne T. Pimentel, in partnership with the Home Development Mutual Fund or PAG-IBIG Fund, successfully spearheaded the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the PAG-IBIG Fund and the LGU, including the capsule laying of the area for the establishment of the Green Valley Subdivision on July 7, 2023 in Barangay Rosario, Tandag City.
Pag-IBIG Fund chief executive officer, Marilene C. Acosta and Governor Alexander T. Pimentel attended the significant milestones to build an estimated 490 affordable housing units of one-story duplex-type with eaves, which will be made available initially to the city government employees of the LGU.
Pag-IBIG Fund CEO Acosta congratulated the beneficiaries of the Green Valley Subdivision housing project which will soon be established in Tandag City. Accordingly, Tandag City is first LGU to implement the first-ever countryside housing initiative (CHI) in Surigao del Sur. The city donated an 89,514 square meters of land for the said housing project.
“Congratulations to the beneficiaries of the housing project na inagurahan ngayon [which is inaugurated now]. Ito ang unang housing project under countryside housing initiative, at unang LGU na mayroong housing project na katulad nito [This is the first housing project under countryside housing initiative, and the first LGU to have this housing project], ” Acosta said.
Further, Acosta hoped that through the assistance of the provincial government under the administration of Gov. Pimentel that other LGUs in the province will soon follow and implement the same project for the constituents.
“Umaasa kami na sa susunod yung ibang LGU sa tulong ni Governor Pimentel, na magkaroon ng ganitong housing project, in support of the Pambansang Pabahay para sa mga Pilipino Program sa administrasyon ni PBBM [We are hoping that other LGUs in the province, with the help of Gov. Pimentel , to have implement the said housing project as support to the Pambansang Pabahay sa mga Pilipino Program under the administration of PBBM],” the chief executive officer said.
As early as October 2022, the Pag-IBIG Fund is the first to commit and give support to the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino (4PH) program of the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., which envisions constructing six million housing units over the next six years.
“Nagcommit ang Pag-IBIG Fund ng P250 billion for six years para sa developmental loan for the 4PH program. Other than that, Pag-IBIG Fund continues to provide affordable housing loans to the Filipino workers,” Acosta emphasized.
Meanwhile, Juicyfruit P. Alegria, a regular employee of the LGU and a mother of three is blessed to own a slot of the said housing project.
“Being one of the lucky recipients means a lot to me. I have more reasons to work hard so i can start and build a descent house for my growing family. Sa ini na higayon [this time], I become the slot-owner, wow! It brings happiness to my family. I wanted to express my gratitude to the kind and generous people behind the Green Valley Subdivision," Alegria gratefully said. (Nida Grace P. Barcena, PIA-Surigao del Sur)
