Infrastructure project to bring better, safer lives in Puting Bato

DAKBAYAN SA BUTUAN -- Secretary Carlito G. Galvez Jr., presidential adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU), together with Agusan del Norte Governor Ma. Angelica Rosedell M. Amante, led the inauguration of a concrete bridge in Cabadbaran-Puting Bato, Sitio Lusong-Agusan del Norte-Surigao del Sur boundary in Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte on July 28, 2023.

The project falls under the PAyapa at MAsaganang pamayaNAn (PAMANA) initiative of the OPAPRU, and its implementation is in partnership with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) that covers the estimated 74 kilometers of concrete roads.

According to Sec. Galvez, the successful completion of this project is made possible by the combined efforts of the provincial governor and  Congressman Dale B. Corvera, who are committed to bringing development to Agusan del Norte.

During the event, the secretary recalled a past experience where the people of Agusan del Norte, particularly in Sitio Lusong, Barangay Puting Bato, helped him when he was in a far-flung mountain area, emphasizing the goodness of the community.

Gov. Amante earnestly requested the constituents of Barangay Puting Bato not to be easily deceived by the new people's army (NPA). She emphasized the government's commitment to improve their lives and urged them not to believe in deceitful propaganda.

“Nakita naman gyud nato sa atong mata kung unsa ang pagpaningkamot sa atong goberno padulong gyud ug para gyud ni sa inyoha tanan. Walay rason nga kung naa pa motuktok sa inyong balay, moingon nga awayon nato ang goberno, ayaw mo tuo ug bakakon ang goberno, walay rason nga motuo pamo sa ilang panglinlang sa inyo (We have seen and experience the efforts of the government, there is no reason for you to support their will to fight against the government)” the governor said.

“Prangka2x nga pag storya, okay ra unta nga ang paglinla nila sa inyoha kay nadatu mo, naka paeskwela ka sa anak ninyo, pero sa nakita nako sa tibuok Agusan del Norte, ang gibuhat lang nila kay linlahon mo, gamiton mo, human mo og gamit, goodbye namo (Frankly speaking, supporting them will not help you send your kids to school and even make you rich, they will just use you, after getting your support and what they want from you, they will leave)” she further explained.

“Mas maayo pa nga goberno gyud ang atong saligan. Commitment gyud nako ni nga akong ihatag sa inyo. Isip inyong inahan, gamiton nako ang inyong gihatag nga gahum, maningkamot gyud ko nga makita gyud ninyo (Let us support our government, as your governor, I will do my my best to protect you,” the governor added.

The project is expected to benefit 664 households in Brgy. Puting Bato, Sitio Lusong, Cabadbaran, Agusan del Norte. By improving infrastructure and addressing the community's fundamental rights and needs, the project aims to uplift living conditions and foster an environment of dignity, peace, and harmony.
