BISLIG CITY, Surigao del Sur -- In the observance of Arbor Day, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (DENR-CENRO) Bislig City headed by CENR officer Nathaniel E. Racho conducted a tree planting activity in Arboretum cum Rest and Recreation Area on June 25, 2023, at Sitio Sanyata, Barangay San Roque, Bislig City.

Some 234 participants joined and planted a total of 335 species of narra, white lauan, nato, tanguile, and other assorted species of trees and plants.

The activity was participated by the different government agencies, schools, and other organizations such as the Philippine National Police (PNP), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), local government unit of Bislig City, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)-District, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU), Andres Soriano Colleges of Bislig (ASCB) Inc., Bislig City National High School (BCNHS), Tabon Secondary Teachers and Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative (TASETEMCO), Lumino Inc, CWII, My Plywood Sustainable Resource Corporation, Palawan Pawnshop, CSO and rebells bikers.

Arbor Day in the Philippines has been institutionalized and observed every June 25 throughout the nation by planting trees, ornamental plants and other forms of relevant activities. The necessity to promote a healthier ecosystem for the people through the rehabilitation and re-greening of the environment is campaigned in Proclamation No. 643 which amended Proclamation No. 396, s. 2003, that enjoined the active participation of all government agencies, including government-owned and controlled corporations, the private sector, schools, civil society groups, and the citizenry in tree planting activity.

CENRO Bislig honors the natural environment by conducting series of tree planting, other environmental activities and raising awareness on climate change adaptation and mitigation through the conduct of communication and education campaign entitled, "Sa CENRO Bislig, Ikaw Makasalig".
